Before I comment on the evening and the swimmers performance I must make everyone aware of the brilliant support that parents give to this club. The event was originally allocated to another club to host. Some 10 days before the event was due to take place they withdrew from hosting and the event therefore had no one to organise it. It became clear that no other club was going to come forward and led by Ann Basford we stepped forward to host the event in a pool 38 miles from our base. To do so required us to organise volunteers for refereeing, results recording, takings on the door, organising a raffle, providing health and safety people, organising volunteers from other clubs to announce the results and fill half a dozen judging and timekeeping roles, provide and distribute drinks for officials. All of those in addition to providing a team manager and assistants, 2 timekeepers and a judge which we do for every gala. What a great performance from the Dolphins parents to ensure the event took place and ran smoothly.

Anyway on to the swimmers. A great night with a team that included some first timers. Although we didn't get the points we were hoping for all of the swimmers put in great performances. The highlight I am informed was the visit to McDonalds which was very well deserved after a tough Arena league this year.

Time to regroup and get ready for the Derwent Series which is on 28 Jan. 4 Mar and 1 April.

Well done Dolphins.
