This year’s East Midland Regional Championships at Corby and Ponds Forge have just finished and it’s been a great year for Dronfield Dolphins SC with 8 swimmers qualifying for 18 events. A fantastic effort from all the swimmers involved.
Two swimmers had their debut this season at this level: Rory D and Thomas E, both competing in the 12 year old boys at Corby.  Rory competed in 50 & 100 Breaststroke, his goal is to compete next year and increase his events. Thomas took part in 50 Backstroke and went in as the slowest qualifier finishing an incredible 12th overall with a fantastic effort on the day.
The following swimmers have now qualified for and taken part in consecutive championships: Oliver G took part in his 3rd consecutive regional competition competing in the 13 year old boys at Corby. To date Oliver has qualified for an amazing 19 regional events over those 3 years, making 5 finals and gaining 3 medals. This year he chose to compete in an 8 events in spite of qualifying for 9, and he made 2 finals in the 50 & 100 Breast, placing 8th in both finals. He’s already qualified for 3 regional times with another 3 that he’s close to getting for next years competition.

Emily K competed in the Ladies 17’s and overs at Ponds Forge. Emily has now swam at this high level for many years. This year she competed in the 50 Free, and narrowly missed out of next years qualifying time for regionals.
Alex P, Ladies 17’s and overs at Ponds Forge. Alex too, has also competed at this high level for many years, this time competing in the 50 Back & the 100 Breast.
Chris R, Men’s 17’s and overs at Ponds Forge. Along with his teammates he has represented the club at this level for many years and continues to maintain these high standards. Chris competed in the 100 Back this year and maintained his qualifying standard for next year if he chooses to compete.
We would also like to congratulate Eve H who competed and represents Derventio Excel at regional level for the first time.
As a club we would love to get more swimmers qualifying for the regionals next year. To get a qualifying time you must swim on or faster than the stated times in a level 1, 2 or 3 meet. Qualifying times are long course but short course times can be converted and used. The period for qualification runs from April to April. Regional Qualifying Times
