Our Club Championships are taking place on the 25 January 2024 at Eckington Leisure Centre.

The gala warm up is at 4:30pm. Races will start at 5:05pm and if everything goes to plan we will be finished by 8:15pm or earlier.

Spectators are encouraged and viewing entry is £4.00 per adult £1.50 per child. The seating will be full so please do not leave empty seats at your side or attempt to save seats by placing coats or bags on seats. It will also be very hot. Please bear this in mind.

The sports centre have requested that swimmers do not arrive prior to 4:00pm and access to the spectator area will not be available until 4:20pm.

Photography is only permitted where parents have registered and signed the photography book on entry. If you do register for photography please refrain from use at the start of races where swimmers can be distracted by flashes, indeed false starts can be induced as the swimmers look for the starting light as well as the sound.

No phones must be used on Poolside or in the changing areas as per the Swim England Safeguarding Policy.

How old is your child So you think you know! Well in the world of swimming it varies. The Club Championship and the County, Regional and National competitions all take the swimmer's age to be that swimmer's age at 31 December in the year of the swim. Many open galas take the swimmer's age to be their age on the last day of that gala, some league competitions use the swimmer's age at the last round of the league competition. Confused! Well don't be just ask your coach or a committee member and they will help explain.

How the competition works Each swimmer is competing against swimmers in their age group. The age groups start at 8 and under and awards for each year group are made until 18 and over which is the final age group. However, the swimmers swim in heats which are seeded based on the swimmer's entry time. For example a 10 year old swimmer may swim in heat 2 of an event and win that heat in 45.89 seconds but in heat 4 another 10 year old swimmer might swim 41.20 seconds to win the award for that age group. The only way to be sure where a swimmer finishes is to check the results posted on the wall or check online using the link above.
