Mission

Dronfield Dolphins Swimming Club aims are:

  • to provide a safe and fun environment;
  • to recognise effort, improvement and achievement;
  • to ensure that all members are able to participate whatever their ability; and
  • to maximise every swimmer's potential.

 What do we do

We are a community based competitive swimming club. We provide the opportunity for children to progress from learner through to competitive swimmer. We average around 250 swimming members of whom 80 or so will be learners. We aim to develop swimmers to their fullest potential and for those swimmers to take part in competitive swimming when they are prepared to do so.

The club enters a Junior league team competition and the National Swimming League and has been relatively successful which is a testament to the swimmers and coaches of the club. The club also takes a squad to 12 or so open galas throughout the year for more details see the open galas page.

The coaches work towards preparing swimmers for the major competitions for swimming which for Dronfield Dolphins are the Derbyshire County Championships and the Midlands Swimming Championships. We have swimmers who have been and continue to be successful at these events and all swimmers are encouraged to strive to achieve entry times and where achieved enter those competitions. We also offer swimming to those swimmers who are maybe no longer as competitive through our senior squad.

 Leadership

Dronfield Dolphins provides a team of qualified coaches to provide the training and development of the club's swimmers The club is managed by a committee of volunteers. Any parent of a squad member can be nominated and elected to the committee. We are always in need of volunteers to undertake roles which enable the club to function. The committee meets once a month on a Tuesday evening. We encourage any parent to take part and influence the shape and direction of the club.

The club has a Chair who controls the committee meeting and is the voice of the committee; a secretary to co-ordinate all the paperwork within the club; and a treasurer to manage the finances of the club. The running of Dronfield Dolphins is similar to that of a small business, the difference being that the committee are volunteers.

 Constitution

As any well governed organisation should we have a constitution which is reviewed from time to time but also approved by the ASA on a regular basis. You can view the constitution here.
